The first wine of the new project between Benjamin de Rothschild and Vega-Sicilia on the land of Rioja, exactly in San Vicente. In fact, as well as for their second wine, the name of it comes from the term that is colloquially used to refer to the inhabitants of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
As is tradition in Bordeaux, this new winery produces two wines, one more powerful and complex, the Macon, and the other more accessible.
Macon is made from tempranillo strains aged 35 to 90 years and is then grown for 15 months in French oak. It is a wine of extraordinary elegance, powerful, expressive, with velvety tannins and possessing a unique characteristic, its minerality.
